JP Duminy was selected as the first Children's Hospital Trust Ambassador in 2009. The Children's Hospital Trust fundraises for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and Paediatric Healthcare in the Western Cape. While JP continues to excel internationally on the cricket pitch he also extends his responsibilities to helping sick children who are treated at the Hospital. JP acts as a public representative for the Children's Hospital Trust, attends and supports various fundraising events and spends many hours in the Hospital visiting the Hospital’s brave patients.
“I love playing cricket and am grateful that I can play sport as a profession. I have been blessed with great opportunities as a result of playing cricket and I really wanted to give something back. I hope that as a Trust Ambassador I will help make it possible for sick children to get better and get back to enjoying sport themselves,” JP Duminy.
100% of all donations to the Children’s Hospital Trust goes directly to the Hospital and not a single cent is spent on administration. The Red Cross Children’s Hospital was built in 1956 and the Children’s Hospital Trust fundraises for the upgrading and equipping of the Hospital and training of professional staff. The Red Cross Children’s Hospital is one of the top children’s hospitals in the world and the only of its kind in southern Africa, managing around 260 000 patient visits each year. Not only does the Hospital provide world-class treatment to seriously ill children but also provides high level medical training both locally and internationally, and conducts ground-breaking research into childhood illnesses and infectious diseases which has global influence.
